Helen Watts
Helen Watts is the Executive Director of Student Energy, a global non-profit organization and awardee of the 2025 Governor General's Innovation Awards, empowering young people to help drive an inclusive, just transition to a sustainable energy future.
She brings over a decade of experience at the intersection of clean energy, youth leadership, and systems change, with a strong focus on ensuring innovation and climate solutions are designed with and deliver tangible benefits for communities most impacted.
Helen has led and supported initiatives across policy, education, and program design that unlock youth-led innovation, expand pathways into the clean energy workforce, and create equitable access to energy around the world.
She currently serves as the first youth representative on the Enel Foundation Scientific Committee and regularly advises governments, multilateral institutions, and private sector leaders on building inclusive innovation ecosystems and meaningful youth engagement.
Her leadership and contributions have been recognized through inclusion on the Forbes 30 Under 30, Corporate Knights 30 Under 30, and Canada Clean50 lists, highlighting her impact at the forefront of climate action and sustainable development.
